Preparing the Olim for their Aliyah journey
If you are Jewish and want to gain citizenship and move to Israel permanently, it is not an easy or quick process. You are required to apply through "The Jewish Agency for Israel". Although this agency is a nonprofit and non-government organization, it is tasked with screening all Israeli citizenship applications.
This "screening" process is done primarily to ensure the true Jewish ethnicity of all new citizens in the State of Israel, and "The Jewish Agency" has each immigration applicant go through a multi-step process that includes a filing fee, an extensive questionnaire, and the collection of documents needed to authenticate the applicant's Jewish ethnicity.
If the applicant's status is verified, an in-person interview is scheduled, followed by a review of eligibility by a committee in "The Jewish Agency". If approved for citizenship, the applicants receive their visa and are possibly awarded flight tickets.
There are several worldwide organizations that assist in this application process, such as "Nefesh B'Nefesh", "The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews”, and “Ezra International". Each of these organizations help several thousand Olim make Aliyah each year; however, I believe that the Aliyah throughput capacity will need to be vastly expanded and re-engineered to accommodate tomorrow's millions on Olim.
